Elderly care home entertainment
The Cat’s Whiskers Tea Dance Company provide engaging, specialist entertainment designed for those in a care home setting. We combine familiar ‘feel good’ songs, afternoon tea and a group reminiscence session in one unforgettable afternoon.
Each show aims to capture the traditional magic and community spirit of the tea dance. We encourage the audience to engage and participate from beginning to end; dancing, singing and sharing memories.
Our experienced entertainers lead the audience in a sing along including old favourites which vary depending on the theme. Residents are encouraged to dance if they are able. Sing along song sheets are provided for audience members who are less mobile to ensure they feel part of the afternoon’s fun.
During the interval the Cat’s Whiskers entertainers are on hand to don their pinnies and serve a special afternoon tea in beautiful vintage china, complete with cake stands and tea pots. The Residents can relax in true vintage style whilst be waited on hand and foot!
After tea the audience is encouraged to indulge in some nostalgia, sharing stories and memories in a professionally lead reminiscence session. All of our Cat’s Whiskers entertainers have been trained by Age UK and have a wealth of resources to prompt the audience’s memories.
A Street Party at School brings the 1940s and 1950s to life for pupils using the creative mediums of song, dance and art. The workshop is packed with fun filled activities but still leaves time for discussion, reflection and evaluation.
An engaging themed environment is created with vintage bunting, memorabilia, vintage crockery and the workshop leader in full WW2 uniform.
The workshop is flexible and can be edited depending on your requirements and objectives. It can be used as a Pupils Premium activity, providing young people with a memorable experience and an opportunity to engage actively with an important time in history.
