I am a freelance Composer for theatre, dance, circus, film and television. I have interests in many areas of music and write within the genre that a given project requires. Some of my favorite styles to write in include folky violin music, experimental electronic, vocal music, orchestral music, string quartet. However I don’t like to put my creative abilities into a box and love to explore new territory. I will be able to write, produce and perform the music that your project requires. Please see more in the More About section.
My fascination in sound started at an early age. Apparently at the age of 3, I used to go around the house repeating “strange noises” and imitated sounds I’d heard such as my dad’s car engine changing gears. My creative journey has brought me to a wide diversity of artistic and musical experiences and also been the foundation of many wonderful friendships and creative collaborations. Having played the violin since the age of 7 and taken a degree in Popular and World Music (Leeds University, 2006), I have recently gained a Distinction in the MA in Composition for Film & TV at Bristol University. I founded and directed my band The String Project from 2011 to 2017 composing most of the music and collaborating with musicians and vocalists, producing live shows, a string quartet album and an EP. Since finishing my MA in October 2018, I have been in the process of launching my freelance career as a composer. So far this year, I have composed for a circus performance at Circamedia, wildlife documentaries (one of which was broadcast on BBC 2 in an episode of Springwatch), animation for children, short films and adverts. I am currently working on a stock music album for Radio France International. I love nothing more than an exciting brief and to help bring a narrative, impressionistic vision or emotion to life through composition, sound design, orchestration and performance.
