Grania Pickard

Grania creates engaging stories that reflect our concerns, hopes and outrageous desires, drawing from physical theatre, circus, storytelling, live art and clowning.

As a magpie of all trades, Grania has an eclectic trail of experience including site specific performance, aerial cabaret (often with a twist), street theatre, stilt walking, clowning, facilitating theatre and circus workshops as well as spectacular aerial performances.

I am a physical theatre and circus performer, with a background in dramaturgy and site-specific theatre. From performing in site-specific work with small to individual audiences I developed an interest in finding that personal connection when telling stories, and using senses and physicality to create a special moment in time when everything else stands still. I have also trained in physical theatre and aerial circus at Circomedia, and I now work to combine these elements to create personal affecting theatre.

In my practise I focus on how broad themes affect us personally, for example addressing the effects of flooding through delivering hand-written messages in bottles. I work in street theatre and traditional theatre, as well as performing commissioned (often site-specific) aerial work in a variety of settings.
