Rachael Clerke is a Bristol-based performance maker, satirist and keen punk singer. She is currently thinking about the future, youth & hopefulness; somewhere at the intersection of utopian architecture & Lord of the Flies.

She is the lead singer of anti-virtuoso drag band The Great White Males (as Archibald Tactful), co-founder of the ever-changing participatory relay gig F*ck The House Band and a member of Interval, an artist collective and studio space above St Nicholas Market in Bristol. From 2009-15 Rachael collaborated mainly with Josephine Joy under the name Clerke and Joy.

She is a 2017-18 Leverhulme Art Scholar with Bristol Old Vic Ferment, and is in receipt of a Jerwood Performing Arts Micro-bursary to think, and talk to people about, the future. She is an associate lecturer of Theatre at the University of Chichester.

Rachael once received a ‘review’ that read simply – “Performance Art? Either learn to paint or sculpt or fuck off”.
