Saikat Ahamed

Writer and performer based in Bristol.

I am a Writer Performer based in Bristol.

My acting work includes ‘A Fine Balance’ with Tamasha at Hampstead Theatre, a National Tour of ‘Journey to the West’ with Tara Arts as well as stints at Birmingham Rep, Oldham Coliseum and Leicester Haymarket. On screen I played the regular character of Vince in ITV’s Monday Monday and have appeared in numerous TV programmes and films.

I have strong connections within the Bristol theatre scene. At The Tobacco Factory I have played Ali Baba in Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves as well as the ‘step-brother’ in Cinderella, both directed by Sally Cookson. Also directed by Sally Cookson, I appeared as Ben Gunn in Treasure Island and Tinker Bell in Peter Pan at Bristol Old Vic. I also honed my puppetry skills in Midsummer Night’s Dream at Bristol Old Vic, directed by Tom Morris.

My one-man show, The Tiger and The Moustache, concerned with the birth of Bangladesh, has toured nationally and my next solo piece, Strictly Balti will be touring later this year.

As a Storyteller I have woven my tales in schools (both primary and secondary) but have also performed at Nursing Homes, Arts Festivals, Places of Worship, for local Community Groups and in the Thali Cafes in Bristol.
