Rimat creates original performances with a pinch of the surreal. Characterised by playful audience interaction and strong visual aesthetics, her work deals with processes of the mind such as memory, decision-making or how we experience time, through personal (hi)stories and imagination. Rimat works with researchers from fields including Neuroscience, Mathematics, Psychology and specialists such as the ‘Hearing Voices Network’ in the early development of her shows. Her research culminates in performances that are entertaining and thought-provoking.

Born in Germany, Sylvia Rimat is based in Bristol. She performs in theatres and public spaces. Her work has been presented throughout the UK and internationally, including the British Council Showcase at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, London’s Barbican Centre in SPILL Festival, In Between Time Festival (Bristol) and in Australia (Sydney Festival, Proximity Festival Perth), Denmark, Poland, Germany and Spain. Sylvia is a member of Residence in Bristol.
