Timothy X Atack

Writer / composer / film-maker / noiseboy

I’m a founder of Sleepdogs and member of the band Angeltech. I write for theatre, TV, radio, film and pervasive media. I occasionally perform stuff.

My writing has been commissioned by the BBC, Bristol Old Vic, Theatre Bristol, Paines Plough, Forest Fringe, Royal Exchange Theatre and Endemol Shine China, amongst others.

I react badly if woken mid-hibernation, but luckily I can’t climb trees.

Sleepdogs is a collaboration with Tanuja Amarasuriya. We formed in 2009 and we create things inspired by a love of hybrid approaches and inspirations in theatre, film, sound and live art. Places we’ve toured to include The National Theatre, Warwick Arts Centre, Bristol Old Vic, The Gate and Brighton Dome.

Angeltech is a radiophonic pop group making blissed-out noises using unexpected equipment and a backlog of recordings that began in 1995. We’ve toured and released records worldwide.

As a sound artist and designer I’ve worked with Neil Bartlett, Raucous, the BBC, Lyric Hammersmith, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, Edgar Wright and Channel 4 TV amongst others.

In 2007 a series of tropical storms caused me to break off from my parent island and ultimately I was classified as a new, independent land mass.

Now and then I write critically about Live Art and Theatre (at the moment mostly on the Sleepdogs notebook pages).

You can find out a bit more about me at my site here.

There’s some extracts of music I wrote and performed for Sleepdogs here. And a sort of work-in-progress sketchbook of noises and oddities right here.

Plus there’s a picture of me looking sad on Sadplaywright.com, here.
