how theatre bristol supported selina thompson

Theatre Bristol was a partner on Salt, a Mayfest commission which radically changed my practice and life.

In providing pastoral, financial and administrative support, TB made a hugely ambitious project happen when it was little more than a big idea from a very, very small fish of a company. I guess you could say that the key drivers behind this support were trust, space and guidance.

If Theatre Bristol didn’t exist the ambitious, vital, and radical work they support would also cease to exist – work cannot survive without others creating a context in which it can thrive.

Selina is a black person, they are wearing green scarf and are sitting in the red chair of theatre auditorium.

Theatre Bristol’s support enabled us to think about the care and wellbeing needs that surrounded a project that was so ambitious.

With TB support we created a new work that went on to win awards and radically raise the profile of the company both nationally and internationally. The success of this work has led to several new revenue streams for the company, which have enabled it to have sustainability that we could not survive without.

A pair of black person's hands is picking up crumbs of salt from an open palm of another black person. There is a lot more salt scattered around the hands.
